Hack The World

synHacks’ first virtual hackathon held July 18-25, 2020

Hackathon FAQ

Hackathons provide a venue for self-expression and creativity through technology. People with technical backgrounds come together, form teams around a problem or idea, and collaboratively code a unique solution from scratch — these generally take shape in the form of websites, mobile apps, and robots. Hackathons give participants the chance to develop skills and products that have real-world uses.

During a time frame of 24-72 hours, teams are given the opportunity to code a unique solution from scratch. Often times the problem is based on a theme, such as Blockchain, AI/Machine Learning, etc. Hackathons are also a great way to meet, network, and work with your local community and people from across the world. Anyone from any background can participate in a hackathon, whether you’re brand new to coding or an expert in many programming languages, there’s always a hackathon for you.

Often times the first place winner and a few runner-ups do receive prizes. These can be fiscal prizes such as money or gift cards, but they can also be product prizes. Additionally, hackathons can be sponsored by large companies that can contribute to these prizes.

There are always hackathons going on. A few websites to keep on eye on for upcoming hackathons are:
